Other Local Opportunities & Events of Interest to Aussies:

CRICKET:

Southern Cavaliers Cricket club in the DC/MD/VA area

After years of frustration with trying to find a cricket club similar to what we were used to back in our home countries, a group of expats have started the Southern Cavaliers Cricket club in the DC/MD/VA area. The club has been accepted into the league for the 2015 season and will have their home ground in Laurel, MD. The ground is one of the only dedicated cricket grounds in the area and the only grass pitch outside of Texas and Florida. The club is made up of Aussies, South Africans, Brits, West Indians, Zimbabweans, Indians and Pakistani’s. Cricket will be played like we all played it back home – hard, fair, with lots of banter and plenty of post-game beers.

All abilities are very welcome. In addition, the club would be delighted to hear from people who played cricket to a good standard back home but have not looked to play in the US because of lack of opportunity. Now is the time to start playing cricket again. Indoor nets start in mid-February and the league starts in the 2nd week of April.

The club will be having their AGM on the evening of the 13th of February and all members are strongly encouraged to attend. We will follow the AGM with beers and something to eat. Please email Sebastian at southerncavalierscc@gmail.com or call him at 617 390 6509617 390 6509 for more details.

The clubs Facebook page can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/704214156361718/

The club would also be thrilled to welcome supporters at games.

RUGBY:
